Sustainability

Great teak starts in the ground.

Your board comes from a farm we planted ourselves. Here's how we look after it.

Rows of teak grown from seed on our farm in Darién, Panama
Where it grows

Where there were open fields, there are now rows of teak.

Our trees were planted on land that was already cleared. No forest came down to grow ours.

Then we gave them time. Teak grows slowly, and we let it, so the wood is ready before a single tree is cut.

How we work

Taking care of the land is part of the job.

Teak planks stacked to dry at our mill in Darién

Dried by the sun

Our kilns run on solar power, drying every board slowly and evenly right where it was milled, so your board arrives stable and stays flat on your counter, even in a humid kitchen.

The work stays in Darién, Panama

Instead of shipping raw logs overseas, we cut, dry and finish the wood in Darién. Our farm, mill and workshop crews are local and managed in house, so the hands that finish your board know this wood from the tree up.

Every log, put to use

Our sawyers read each log to get the most from it, so the best of every tree goes into your board, and offcuts go on to become other products.

The whole journey, from seed to your kitchen.
